Human hair helmet.
The piece consists of a helmet made of human hair that covers the head, reinterpreting the traditional appearance of this mythological figure. Like the Lamiak, the Basajaun is a character deeply connected to the forest and to nature, almost functioning as an extension of it. This connection is one of the reasons for its ambiguity: like nature itself, the Basajaun can be perceived either as a fearsome threat or as a generous benefactor, depending on the perspective adopted.
These ambiguous figures allow me to move beyond binary categories and explore complex, multifaceted identities—an approach that runs throughout my artistic practice. Through them, I seek to embrace contradiction, uncertainty, and diversity, creating space for more nuanced ways of understanding both the self and the world around us.
